International TÜBA Academy Award

The International TÜBA Academy Awards were initiated to contribute to the international representation and recognition of the Turkish scientific community by encouraging and rewarding scientists whose work and contributions to science are appreciated worldwide.                                                            The International TÜBA Academy Awards were established to encourage and reward scientists whose work and contributions to science are internationally recognized, with the aim of enhancing the representation and recognition of the Turkish scientific community on the global stage.

  • TÜBA-Outstanding Young Scientists Awards (GEBİP)
Among TÜBA's duties are encouraging research, scientific endeavors, and scientific inquiry in all fields of science in Türkiye, guiding young people toward science and research, ensuring public acceptance and appreciation of science, and giving awards for these purposes.

The postdoctoral phase, characterized by independent research, holds a pivotal role in a scientist’s professional development. During this stage, it is essential for researchers to cultivate their ability to lead studies autonomously, including the supervision of master's and doctoral theses. Recognizing the need for targeted encouragement and support at this critical juncture, the Turkish Academy of Sciences established the Outstanding Young Scientists Award Program (TÜBA-GEBİP) in 2001. The program aims to unite young scientists who have demonstrated excellence in their research within Turkey under the Academy’s umbrella, foster a synergistic environment through their interactions with peers and Academy members, and provide the academic recognition, financial support, and motivation necessary to advance their careers.

The TÜBA-GEBİP Awards, recognized as one of the earliest examples of "Young Academy" initiatives worldwide and holding a unique position in Turkey, are open to young scientists across all scientific disciplines. Eligible candidates include those who have specialized in health sciences or hold a doctorate in other scientific fields, who are currently working in Turkey or have committed to working in Turkey, and who are under the age of 40. For female candidates, the age limit is extended by one additional year for each child they have.

  • TÜBA-Scientific Copyright Works Awards (TESEP)
The Scientific Copyright Works Awards Program (TÜBA-TESEP), initiated by TÜBA, aims to encourage the production of high-quality original Turkish-language works for universities. Formerly known as the Scientific Copyright and Translation Works Awards (TEÇEP) until 2016, the program was restructured in 2017 to focus exclusively on original copyrighted works under the name TÜBA-TESEP.

Within this framework, the Academy Council annually confers a special award named after our Honorary Members—distinguished scientists who have significantly contributed to global science and brought prestige to our country through their national and international achievements—recognizing outstanding works published in specific scientific fields.

Applications for the award can be submitted for original copyrighted works that are currently taught or have the potential to be taught or utilized at all university levels. Submissions must be for the latest edition of the work and include an index and bibliography. Evaluation is carried out by Area Evaluation Committees (ADKs), which are constituted according to the scientific fields relevant to the works and incorporate peer reviews. The ADKs submit their recommendations to the Main Committee, composed of ADK coordinators and the Academy President. The Main Committee then forwards its recommendations for the TÜBA-TESEP awards to the Academy Council. The Academy Council makes the final decision on the recipients of the Scientific Copyright Work Award and the Jury Special Award.
