YÖK Outstanding Achievement Awards
YÖK Outstanding Achievement Awards
The YÖK Outstanding Achievement Awards, presented by the Council of Higher Education since 2017, are given in 12 different categories under four main headings: Individual, Institutional, Special Field, and Special Awards.
Under the Individual Awards category, the Doctoral Dissertation of the Year Award will be granted in four distinct fields: Science and Engineering, Fine Arts and Architecture, Health and Sports Sciences, and Social Sciences and Humanities. Applications for this award must be submitted jointly by the doctoral graduate and their advisor, and only dissertations completed in the preceding year will be eligible. These awards are intended to emphasize the importance of shared academic success between faculty and students.
Under the Institutional Awards category, there are five separate award areas: Digital Transformation and Big Data Studies, Social Responsibility, International Cooperation, University–Industry Collaboration, and Contribution to Local Development. Applications in this category must be submitted by higher education institutions. The awards aim to encourage and promote innovative projects and exemplary practices carried out by institutions in the previous year.
Special Field Awards will be presented in two categories: the National Innovation Award and the Science Diplomacy Award. Applications must be submitted by the faculty member responsible for the work. Eligible submissions must have been conducted and completed within the calendar year preceding the application. These awards seek to recognize and encourage academic work in the strategically important fields of national innovation and science diplomacy, which are considered priorities in higher education and national policy.
The Special Award will be given as the Service to Knowledge and Students Award to scientists who have made significant contributions to education and science through their work. No applications will be accepted for this award.
